Overview:
Trauma
Resiliency
Model
– Group
(TRM-G)
is
a
skills-based
intervention
program
focused
on
helping
veterans
and
warriors
post
deployment
with
self-stabilization
skills
and
affect
management
in
a
group
setting
of
at
least
8
sessions.
The
TRM-G
program
utilizes
current
knowledge
about
the
biological
basis
of
trauma
in
the
design
of
interventions.
Objectives:
Focus
is on the biology rather than pathology of symptoms through brief
psycho education modules about the nervous system and its response
to threat and fear;
Provide a
skills-based program which teaches increased sensory awareness,
expansion of sensory awareness to include neutral or positive
sensations, and tools for self-management;
Encourage positive
attachment and support among veterans and warriors in TRM-G by
utilizing dyadic practice of skills when appropriate;
Encourage
independent practice and use of TRM-G skills outside of sessions to
increase resiliency and self-regulation;
Provide psycho
educational materials to anchor skills, provide information to
friends and family, and promote skills use in challenging
situations.
Requirements:
TRM-G
are closed, time-limited groups.
Members
must agree to attend all 8 sessions.
Group must have 2
facilitators.
Intake meeting with
members before entering group.
Willing to do
homework assignments.
Group
not limited to veterans and warriors only. Would recommend separate
group for other than war trauma. Group size: 5 to 12.
